Astronomy
This page shows a set of graphs showing some astronomical facts
related to the position and location of our house.
These graphs were produced with the aid of the SLALIB astronomical libraries, some custom code in Python, and GNUPLOT.
The SLALIB package is available at http://star-www.rl.ac.uk/. It provides very high precision astronomical libraries that are highly portable.
GNUPLOT is an excellent library for producing graphs, and can handle much more complex cases than these. It can be found at http://www.gnuplot.info.
- SunTime: time of rising and setting of the
sun in Carleton Place
- SunAz: azimuth of the sun at the time it rises and sets
- LFAlt: time when the sun is directly left and in front of our house
- LFAz: altitude of the sun when directly left and in front of our house
